Jacque Fresco, American Futurist, Dreamer, and Founder of The Venus Project
Dear Friends & Neighbors,

About a week ago on May 18, 2017, Jacque Fresco of Venus, FL, an American futurist and self-prescribed social engineer, passed away at age 101. Throughout his life, Fresco wrote and lectured his views on sustainable cities, energy efficiency, natural resource management, cybernetic technology, automation, and the role of science in society. He directed the Venus Project and advocated global implementation of a socioeconomic system which he referred to as “resource-based economy“. He believed that human nature is not fixed and has hope of becoming something greater if people would simply realize that we are living in a time of abundance rather than scarcity. He also believed that what we need is intelligently managed earth resources and eliminating culturally conditioned greed or tendency for warfare. In his resource based economy, it is not only the new technology that human needs but also a new set of value system. A new value system that would enable every one to have free access to much and greater appreciation for what we all have inherited from the greater humanity. Although his views of religion and love or marriage may not be as easily accepted by many, he did live his life according to his belief. He is definitely a Floridian icon, spent a good part of his life in Sebring and Venus, FL.
