Disney’s Upcoming Rivers of Light Show at Animal Kingdom
Dear Friends & Neighbors,

Our previous post, Florida’s Sunshine To Be Caught By Mickey’s Solar Farm & Floridians For Solar Choice, started my train of thoughts about Walt Disney. I think one of the things I love the most about Walt Disney or Disney World summed it all up here:
- Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
- We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious….
- and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

How perfectly timed for me to receive email from one my friends and viewers/readers, telling me about her daughter’s participation in an upcoming new show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Rivers of Light! It will officially debut at the Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 22, 2016! This three year production will be the first-ever night time show and experience at Animal Kingdom! It’s set on Discovery River lagoon, between Discovery Island and Expedition Evrest, in the Asia section of the park, under the guise of an ancient and timeless lantern festival, celebrating an ancient mythology. In ancient times, it was believed that when animals pass from one world into another, they dance in the sky and create these beautiful flowing river of lights (which is what we know as aurora borealis). Audience will be guided by two storytellers calling forth to four animal Spirit Guides: an Asian Tiger, Tropical Turtle, African Elephant, and Great Horned Owl, guiding the audience through the journey of Rivers of Light. The show would have wonderful music overtures, accompanied by dancing lanterns, moving fountains, water screens, laser projections and lighting effects. The creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering Michael Jung, the creative executive of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Joe Rohde, and production designer Michael Curry of Michael Curry Design hope visitors will be inspired by the beauty of nature and become more aware of the fact that every moment of being alive is a gift.
