Stretching May Help To Prevent Lower Back Pain
Dear Friends & Neighbors,
(Please click on red links & note magenta)
Recently I took my mom to her eye doctor’s office and I heard quite a few people in the waiting room talking about their back pain problem. Since many people suffer from this problem, I thought I’d dig up some helpful pointers to be shared here, below:
Did you know 80% of the U.S. population (according to our friend Drew Canole of the FitLifeTV) suffers from lower back pain problem? To alleviate lower back pain, Drew recommended 3 stretching exercises:
- Stretching: put one leg in front and lean forward (to open up hip flexors)
- Gait stretch: tilting up the foot while reaching downward (simple and easy, as yoga stretch), repeat for both feet
- Stretch out the groin (lean to one side, open up the hips & straighten hamstrings)
Drew recommends stretching 5-10 minutes per day would not only help to prevent lower back pain but also boost our energy level. He also suggests green juice and alkalizing anti-inflammatory food in our diets. I believe ginger and turmeric are natural ingredients with anti-inflammatory quality that would be helpful.
According to Wikipedia:
Effective methods to prevent low back pain have not been well developed. Exercise is probably effective in preventing recurrences in those with pain that has lasted more than six weeks. Medium-firm mattresses are more beneficial for chronic pain than firm mattresses. There is little to no evidence that back belts are any more helpful in preventing low back pain than education about proper lifting techniques. Shoe insoles do not help prevent low back pain.
Hope this is helpful.
